Summary of position: The objective of the consultancy is to provide technical support to GAC programs in the area of environment and climate change in order to ensure effective and resource efficient programming, with the ultimate goal of contributing to better programming results in the ME countries by limiting environmental risks and capitalizing on environmental opportunities.
Essential qualifications:
Education:
A university degree, in environment studies or a related discipline such as Water Resources Management, Renewable energy, Environmental Assessment, etc.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of professional work experience as technical expert and advisor in environment. Demonstrated experience in environmental assessment on a broad range of projects (e.g. agriculture, water, infrastructure, education, energy).
Language:
Fluency (proficiency level 4) in spoken and written English and Arabic.
Asset qualifications:
Post graduate degree, in environment studies or a related discipline such as Water Resources Management, Renewable energy, Environmental Assessment, etc.
Minimum of 5 years of experience working on development assistance programs and projects.
Fluency in spoken and written French is an asset.
Organizational Needs:
The Initial contract is valid until June 30th 2018 extendable based on work performance and availability of funds. The assignment is expected to start on January 1st 2017, or upon the signing of the contract.
Operational Requirements:
Candidates must submit by email: 1) a résumé; 2) a covering letter indicating how they meet each of the qualifications; 3) three references of previous employers including current contact information; 4) a financial proposal (daily rate quoted in CanadianDollars (CAD)) as a separate attachment.
Condition(s) of Employment:
The Advisor must be ready to travel within Jordan and other countries such as Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and other ME countries to support GAC’s development, humanitarian assistance and (ODA-related) security and stabilization programs’ planning and monitoring and to meet with partners. The Advisor may also be requested to travel in the region and internationally, once or twice a year, for the purpose of delivering services described above and for periodic information sessions/updates organized by GAC as required
