The job of Communications officer is to be responsible for a QRTA communication with different target audiences, including customers, journalists, investors, suppliers and the community. They advise other employees and managers on communication tasks, and use written and verbal skills to create a wide range of product and corporate communication material. By communicating effectively with their target audience, they help to build a positive reputation for the company.
Key Responsibilities
1. QRTA website
2. Manage, maintain and produce content for the QRTA website, including multimedia content
3. Develop program management schedule to ensure news and events are current and reflect the School’s strategic directions
4. Review market and industry research and present innovative ideas to help drive growth in website traffic and increase user engagement and interaction
5. Review, analyse and action on website traffic
6. Continual review of search engine optimisation metrics to ensure maximum exposure
7. Manage the relationship with website supplier/ICT Grammar Net Parent Portal
8. Manage, maintain and produce/source content for the internal Parent Portal site
9. Develop monthly tracking and analysis to report on Parent Portal traffic
10. Develop program management schedule to ensure content is accurate, up to date and consistent with other communications
11. Review market and industry research and present innovative ideas to increase school community engagement and satisfaction with the Parent Portal
12. Manage the relationship with website supplier/ICT Social Media
13. Manage, edit and produce content for the School’s social media platforms that builds community engagement with the School and reflects the School’s key messages and core philosophy
14. Develop programme management schedule to ensure content is current and reflect the School’s strategic directions

16. Develop monthly tracking and analysis to report on social media traffic
17. Review market and industry research and present innovative ideas to drive community growth and increased user engagement and interaction
18. Identify potential new social media platforms
19. Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy to ensure the School stays ahead of the curve Online Communications
20. Edit, manage and deliver the weekly BGGS News e-newsletter to the School community
21. Edit, manage and deliver the BGGS enrolments e-newsletter to enrolled families
22. Prepare and distribute electronic communications including e-promotional materials, e-invites and information updates for School events and activities
23. Prepare and manage online surveys using Survey Monkey and prepare online forms as required Other
24. Manage and maintain the Department’s Image Library
25. Assist with preparation of audio and visual material for School communication purposes
26. Keeping abreast of new technologies to provide advice for community engagement
27. Liaison with IT Department to ensure smooth and seamless delivery of School communications
28. Undertake any other duties as required in relations to communications and community relations. Essential Qualifications and Experience
29. Demonstrated experience in managing corporate websites including monitoring performance, trends and reporting using web analytics tools and a good knowledge of principles of SEO is essential
30. Demonstrated experience with content management systems (WordPress preferable) in the delivery and maintenance of websites and e-Newsletters
31. Expert knowledge of social networking channels and demonstrated experience in administering social media platforms is essential
32. Tertiary qualifications in a related field of study (Marketing, New Media, Communication, Visual Media) or related experience
33. Advanced computer literacy across a range of applications including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Adobe Creative Suite and web-based applications
34. Proficient in HTML and Experience with Word Press or similar web-based applications
35. Experience with database systems and photo and multimedia editing
36. Highly developed written and oral communication skills including an eye for detail and proof reading skills
37. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work with staff at all levels of the organization and with the broader School community
38. Ability to work as member of a high performing team as well as independently and possess a high level of organizational skills, initiative, innovation and professionalism in the workplace
39. Creative writing (writing press releases in both English and Arabic) 40. Building relations with the media and social media people, this will help us during events (when inviting them to cover)

Other required Duties:
1. Implement QRTA’s annual media plan in accordance with the overall driving mission, vision, programs, projects, services, and overall strategic and action plans.
2. Coordinate between all QRTA departments to ensure all-encompassing online and offline coverage and outreach.
3. Cater media activities and engagements to the different stakeholders engaged with QRTA.
4. Establish QRTA’s media and branding handbook and ensure the guidelines are communicated with and implemented by QRTA staff, partners, and donors.
5. Profile QRTA and its objectives, programs, projects, and services in the most suitable media channels to reach targeted audience and stakeholders
6. Constantly identify ways and areas to expand QRTA’s outreach and exposure to all identified stakeholders in close coordination with QRTA’s management and academic team.
7. Identify all QRTA activities (internal and external) and ensure suitable coverage to each occasion in coordination with the Media & Communications Assistant and the Strategic Development Director.
8. Participate in coordinating with media and advertising agencies with respect to implementing the approved QRTA Media Strategy.
9. Actively oversee all social media and website updates and activities to ensure quality and adherence to the annual plan.
10. Create and maintain QRTA document templates to ensure maximum exposure in internal and external activities and events.
11. Lead executing all promotional activities and events organized by QRTA, as well as prepare press releases and media advisories.
12. Build and maintain solid relationships with local and regional media representatives in order to monitor, follow up with, and document the news of QRTA.
13. Create and dispatch QRTA’s monthly newsletter to the contacts database.
14. Prepare brochures, handouts, email shots, annual reports and any such publications in both Arabic and English.
15. Prepare periodic and non-periodic reports on the Media & Communications Department work and submit to senior management as needed.
16. Regularly update QRTA’s archive of documents, records, files, publications and reports.
17. Adhere to the implementation of approved systems, procedures and instructions in the course of performing his/her duties as Senior Media & Communications Officer.
18. Design, implement and oversee the media strategy of QRTA’s annual conference, the Teacher Skills Forum. The Senior Officer should observe political and national education trends to aid in the implementation process, come up with different approaches to expand the participant base, and actively participate in developing theme of the year. The Senior Officer will also handle invitation lists, accounting and attending to media partners’ needs and requests before, during and after the forum.19. Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the Strategic Development Director.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
1. Minimum of 6-10 years of experience in a related field.
2. Bachelor’s degree in media and communications/public relations/marketing or similar.
3. Speaks and writes Arabic and English exceptionally well.
4. Has a strong background in social media, as well as public and media relations.
5. Outspoken, works on initiative, and actively participates in meetings and discussions.
6. Works well within a team-oriented organization.7. Is flexible, committed, and able to perform multiple technical tasks at any time.
