The British Embassy in Amman is seeking an individual for the position of a Housekeeper, Grade – S3 (L).
Purpose of the job:
Working as part of the Embassy’s Corporate Services Team you will be responsible to provide assistant and support services to all staff members in Amman, ensuring that all areas of the embassy are clean and tidy so staff are able to work in a safe, clean and comfortable environment.
Main Responsibilities:
Working as part of a small housekeeping team you will be required to clean the following on a daily basis:
- All offices in the main building ground floor
- Kitchen and Reception
- Ladies and Men’s bathrooms
- Gym
- Outside area (only till the stairs leading to the club)
- Offices of Visa Section, IEI and Consular Section
- Consular area
- Offices upstairs under supervision
- TWG area
- DFID Office
- Security lodge
- Empty bins
- Check any water bottles and distribute when needed.
You will also be required to:
- Ensure that the stock room is up to date and refill stock (tissues, toilet rolls, cleaning products etc.) if needed.
- Assist in setting up venues, helping to move items if needed.
- Arrange the embassy garbage collection with municipality.
- Prepare coffee/tea and change room layout if required.
- Regularly check meeting rooms when not in use to ensure that they are clean and tidy.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience
Essential:
· 2 years of housekeeping experience in a professional environment.
· Fluent in written and Spoken Arabic and Basic spoken English skills.
· Strong team player with partnering skills with a diverse range of customers
· Organisational skills.
· Ability to physically lift items.

Working Hours and Remuneration:
The position is full-time, at 37 hours a week with considerations of flexibility depending on circumstances.
Pay is on the Embassy S3 (L) scale, with a salary of JOD 592 per month. The package includes a good level of health insurance. We offer opportunities to develop professional skills through our Learning & Development offer. Leave entitlement is 25 days (pro rated) plus 14 public holidays.

- Receive the appropriate level of standard security clearance;
- Have (or be willing to obtain) the right to live and work in Jordan. Candidate’s residence permit and work permit, and the expense to obtain them, will be their own responsibility.
