SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organisation, we support
children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care,
education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for the rights of children and young
people, in alliance with a great diversity of partners. We work in 135 countries and territories,
reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year. To support

Institutional Partnership Development (IPD) Advisor,
International Office Region, Middle East and North Africa (IOR MENA)
12 month (with possibility of renewal)
Based in Jordan
Mission
Under the leadership of the Regional Head of Function, the Regional IPD Advisor is responsible
for creating opportunities to diversify and mobilize financial resources by driving institutional
fundraising and strategic partnerships with multi-lateral, government and foundation donors
across Middle East and North Africa. S/he will support the regional IPD team to implement the
new Global IPD Strategy, aligning activities with SOS International’s 2030 Strategy. S/he will be
responsible for supporting Member Associations to secure local IPD opportunities and for
building their capacities in partnership development and donor contract acquisition. S/he will
also support the sound grant management of donor-funded projects and ensure compliance
with donor regulations and SOS policies.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The main tasks and responsibilities of the position are:
- Coordinate and facilitate IPD processes across MENA, supporting the implementation of a Regional IPD Action Plan and contributing to improved standards, processes and tools.
- Act as regional IPD focal point in providing support to selected National Associations.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with donors and stakeholders, positively representing the organization’s aims and objectives.
- Monitor and identify funding opportunities.
- Lead and/or facilitate the preparation of high-quality concept notes and proposals
- Ensure servicing and grant management in compliance with donor regulations and SOS policies.
- Contribute to organizational learning by facilitating capacity building activities in Project Cycle Management and the development of concept notes & proposals.
- Ensure regular and proactive communication between internal stakeholders at the international, regional and national levels and external partners.
- Lead and/or participate in cross-functional processes to increase long-term net income and quality institutional partnerships.
- Support MENA IPD Network, linking IPD Focal Points across the region to develop and share best practices and lesson learnt.
PROFILE & COMPETENCIES
- University degree in International Development, Project Management, Business or related field
- Minimum 3 years’ working experience in the development sector in a similar role
- Strong understanding of funding environment, donor regulations and international development cooperation policies.
- Strong understanding of project management (PCM, LFA, RBM) and grant management.
- Experience developing and maintaining effective donor relationships, identifying funding opportunities, developing and securing donor contracts, and monitoring and reporting on implementation.
- Capacity building, training, workshop facilitation and coaching skills and experience.
- Basic financial management skills, including budget development and monitoring.
- Very good written and spoken English and French, Arabic is an asset
- Good knowledge of standard computer software (Word, Excel, etc.). Knowledge of database packages useful
- Willing to travel regularly to international and remote project sites
- Excellent interpersonal presentation, communication and negotiation skills necessary to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment

2- Emergency Response Advisor

EMERGENCY RESPONSE ADVISOR
International Office Region, Middle East and North Africa (IOR MENA)
12 month (with possibility of renewal)
Based in Jordan
Mission
He/she will play a key role in the coordination of the Emergency Response Programs currently
planned or underway in SOS Children’s Villages Member Association countries in the MENA,
as well as assisting in the development of emergency and disaster preparedness strategies for
other Member Associations in the region. He/she reports to the Regional Head of Function and
assists in responding to all emergency-related issues in the region. The position involves
planning, monitoring implementation, evaluation and coordination of Emergency Programs in
the region.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The incumbent takes general responsibility for the Coordination, Monitoring & Evaluation of ER
activities in the Region and provides support to Member Associations in the following:
- Carrying out needs and rapid assessments
- Development of program concepts, proposal, budgets and other program related documents;
- Implementation of Project Management mechanisms and tools to ensure programschedule, KPIs and objectives are met
- Ensuring optimal implementation of activities through field missions and provide relevant expertise
- Being accountable for monitoring the timely and adequate completion of Emergency Program situation reports by country teams in Member Associations
- Management of field security
- Management of the Recruitment phase of ER projects,
- Ensures budgets are aligned with planned activities and agreed timelines and respond to the needs at field level.
Additionally, provides professional expertise to the Head of Department, other regional Advisors
and the SOS CVI Global Emergency Response team in the design and follow-up of monitoring
and evaluation tools and processes
PROFILE & COMPETENCIES
- Master Degree in International Development, International Relations, Disaster Management or related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years in the humanitarian field including 2 years of operational experience in emergency response/relief with some exposure to conflict zones; relevant experience in the MENA region would be a definite advantage.
- Experience in project management including project planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting with an NGO or UN agency.
- Demonstrable expertise in the use of humanitarian standards and principles
- An understanding of technical aspects and different sectors of Emergency Program activities.
- Experience in Child Protection and refugee assistance a strong asset.
- Good communication and diplomacy skills with a strong ability to persuade and influence client and stakeholder relationships.
- Willingness and ability for international travel in emergency countries within the region at short notice.
- Must have excellent knowledge of (written and spoken) English and Arabic a definite asset.
- Ability to establish strong working relationships with local and international stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
