Psychologist for Emergency Response Project – Jordan

Working location: Emergency Response Project SOS Jordan / different sites in eastern Amman at the Partner CBOs |
Position summary: The role of the child psychologist is essential in securing support for children and their parents. The Psychologist reports directly to the ERP Manager and works in close coordination with the case managers, parents and volunteers at the partners CBOs.
This position ensures psychosocial support for Syrian and Jordanian children and their parents. Tasks and Responsibilities:Include but are not limited to:Provide psychological support to our target group according to SOS Children’s Villages International principles and policies.Conduct initial assessment for the target groups to assess their MHPS.Set an intervention plan for each child based on the assessment.Support the implementation of psycho-social activities within the target group.Assess the children and prepare individual plan for each child.Conduct psychosocial session individually and in groups.Undertake the social investigation about each individual child case and ensure that all related information is collected properly through reliable sources.Ensure proper integration for the child within the PSS program.Conduct training for parents of the children target groups on psychological child development.Conduct Psychosocial training for the volunteers working in the CBOs.Provide psychosocial support to the parents to participate actively in the child development plan.Apply child protection policies and procedures.Diagnose, intervene and follow up psychological situation of the child. Ability to conduct individual and group therapy sessions. Identify the traumatised or PTSD cases. Support referring the traumatised children to external PSS clinics. Key performance areas and main responsibilities: Provide a comprehensive case management service to all children beneficiaries including: assessment, long-term case plan development, progress monitoring, referrals.Report the child protection incidents directly to the project Psychologist.Recognize the traumatized children and take the necessary procedures to refer them to external PSS experts/ centers.Follow-up with families and agencies as appropriate to document use/success of referral and exit plans.Input accurate and complete data for all beneficiaries into CBOs database.Provide all required documentation in a timely manner, which may include beneficiary follow-up, outcome evaluation, beneficiary contact sheets, and reports.Participate in regular staff meetings, staff training programs, supervisory sessions, and accept the responsibility for aiding the development of positive team relationships as requested.Conducts field visits and follow up with beneficiaries’ families/PSS centres to ensure proper service provided.Assess, and define, the PTSD cases from all beneficiaries onside the CBOs.Refers beneficiaries to professional or community services as required.Design and implement an intervention programs for the beneficiaries. Develop detailed sessions curricular and trainings manuals for the psycho-social activitiesTrain the volunteers and the co-workers of the partner CBOs.Works in joint effort with volunteers, CBOs workers, and psychologistIntervene with other components of the project when requiredReport and document all activities, incidents, plans, and strategy.Comply with any additional task that would assist in the operation of the centreSafe guard the wellbeing of the children at all timesAct in the best interest of the beneficiaries, staff and SOS CV Jordan.Abide by the Child Protection and child safeguarding Policy and SOS Code of Conduct Qualifications:Bachelor degree in psychologyMinimum 3 years’ relevant experience as a psychologistFluency in both English and ArabicAbility to work under pressure in a team environmentAbility to work under in different locations in eastern AmmanReporting and communication skills. |
