Duties
The employee is an Economic Analyst in the Economic Section. S/he is the primary adviser to the Economic Counselor, the Deputy Economic Counselor, and Economic Officers on policy, programs, and procedural aspects of the mission’s reporting and engagement on key sectors, including the energy, banking, insurance, real estate, stock exchange, real estate, financial sector, cyber security, and information and communications technology. S/he collects information, analyzes economic data, monitors developments in select Jordanian industries via traditional and social media, drafts cables, memos and reports, tracks and analyzes legislation, develops and maintains high-level strategic contacts, organizes U.S. government official visits and programs, and counsels the Front Office and other agency colleagues on economic issues. The incumbent is one of two Economic Analysts in the section, in addition to the Senior Economic Specialist. The position has no supervisory responsibilities, but entails complete and independent process management of select initiatives. Back to top
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: At least three years of related experience, within the private sector, non-governmental organizations, or a government agency focused on economic issues is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of an extensive body of business and economic terminology, principles, procedures, and operations. Must possess a firm grasp of Jordanian laws, customs, regulations, and government workings and possess strong working level contacts at various in the Jordanian government, the private sector, and international and non-governmental organizations is required.Education Requirements:
A minimum B.A. degree in economics, marketing, finance, business administration, political science, public policy, history, or international studies is required.

Needs to manage complex projects and organize high level events while liaising with offices inside and outside the Embassy. Must operate independently or with minimal direction from supervisor. Must have the ability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex economic issues to non-technical audiences. Must be organized and capable of meeting deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills required. Must possess a working level of the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The incumbent must know how to use social media sites popular in Jordan, including Facebook and Twitter.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Amman, Jordan will receive a in addition to their basic salary the following:
